The Quran was revealed in Ramadan. Jibril revised it with the Prophet every Ramadan night. The barakah of this month accelerates Quran learning in a way no other month can. Here is why — and exactly how to start your online Quran journey at Ayat Bridge before the blessed month begins.

Introduction — The Most Blessed Month for the Most Blessed Book

There are 12 months in the Islamic calendar. But one stands above all others. Ramadan is the month of fasting, of night prayer, of increased worship — but more than anything, it is the month of the Quran. Because it was in Ramadan that the Quran was first revealed:

شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي أُنزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ

Transliteration: Shahru Ramadaanal lazee unzila feehil Qur'aan

English: The month of Ramadan in which the Quran was revealed.

Urdu: رمضان کا مہینہ جس میں قرآن نازل کیا گیا

Source: Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 185

This is not a coincidence that Ramadan falls every year and Muslims feel a pull towards the Quran in this month. It is by design. Allah connected this month to His Book forever — and every year, that connection calls every Muslim back to the pages of the Quran.

But there is another, even more powerful piece of evidence for why Ramadan is special for the Quran:

كَانَ جِبْرِيلُ يَلْقَاهُ فِي كُلِّ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ فَيُدَارِسُهُ الْقُرْآنَ

Transliteration: Kaana Jibreelu yalqaahu fee kulli laylatin min Ramadaana fayudaarisuhul Qur'aan

English: Jibril used to meet the Prophet every night of Ramadan and study the Quran with him.

Urdu: جبریل علیہ السلام ہر رمضان کی ہر رات نبی ﷺ سے ملتے اور ان کے ساتھ قرآن کا دور کرتے تھے

Source: Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 3554 — narrated by Ibn Abbas (RA)

Every single night of Ramadan — all 30 nights — Jibril (AS) descended and revised the Quran with the Prophet (peace be upon him). Think about this for a moment. The angel who brought the revelation from Allah. Revisiting it. Night after night. Throughout the entire month. If Jibril (AS) spent every Ramadan night with the Quran — what should we be doing with our Ramadan nights?

Why Ramadan Accelerates Quran Learning

Students who begin their Quran journey in Ramadan consistently progress faster than those who begin in other months. This is not a claim without basis — Ayat Bridge teachers observe it every year. Here is why:

The motivation is at its peak: In Ramadan, every Muslim's consciousness of Allah, of worship, of Islamic practice is heightened. The desire to connect with the Quran — to finally read it, finally understand it, finally hold it properly — is stronger in this month than at any other time of year. That motivation is one of the most powerful learning accelerants that exists.

The environment is supportive: In Ramadan, the home is different. Quran is being recited in mosques. Islamic content fills social media. Family members are praying more. Children see their parents engaged with worship. Starting Quran in this environment means the learning is surrounded by a context that reinforces it at every turn.

The Shaytan is chained: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said the doors of Jannah are opened and the gates of Hell are closed in Ramadan, and the Shayatin are chained (Sahih al-Bukhari, 1899). The inner resistance that many people feel towards acts of worship — the whisper that says 'not now, tomorrow, later' — is weakened in Ramadan. Use that window.

The barakah of the month amplifies all worship: Every act of worship in Ramadan carries multiplied reward. The Quran recited in Ramadan carries the reward of a full Quran recited outside Ramadan. Beginning your Quran learning journey in this month means your first steps are taken in the most spiritually charged environment of the entire year.

Who Should Start Online Quran Classes Before Ramadan?

Adults who have been saying 'someday': Someday is Ramadan. There will never be a more powerful motivating force than this month. If you have been meaning to learn properly for years — this is the moment. Book your free trial class today, start before Ramadan, and enter the month already on your way.

Those who read Quran but want to improve: If you have been reading Quran with mistakes for years — incorrect Makhaarij, missing Tajweed rules, unsure about Waqf signs — Ramadan is the perfect time to enrol in a Tajweed course at Ayat Bridge and begin correcting what needs correcting. Start Ramadan reading the Quran more correctly than you have ever read it before.

A Simple Ramadan Quran Goal — Whatever Your Level

•      Complete beginner: learn Surah Al-Fatiha and 3 short Surahs with understanding by the end of Ramadan — and be able to recite them in Salah knowing what you are saying

•      Can read but struggles: complete reading Juzz Amma (30th Para) once with improved Tajweed compared to the start of the month

•      Regular reader: complete one full Khatam (reading the entire Quran once) — one Para per day for 30 days

•      Advanced: double Khatam — two Para per day, morning and evening, with full Tajweed
